Mere 282 thousand guests arrived to collective accommodation establishments during the surveyed period, which was a decrease by 91.1%, y-o-y. Compared to the previous year, the number of guests from abroad (non-residents) dropped by 96.3% and the number of guests from the Czech Republic (residents) decreased by 86.4%. Hotels recorded a slump of the total number of guests by 91.5%. Arrivals in boarding houses dropped by 87.3% and in other accommodation establishments by 92.5%. As for the regional comparison, the numbers of arrivals in all Regions is on the level of 3 to 17% of last year’s figures.
A significant decrease in the numbers of arrivals is still observed as for all source foreign markets. In the Q1 2021, the highest number of guests from abroad came from Slovakia; only 12 thousand of Slovaks were accommodated in the surveyed collective accommodation establishments, which was by 88.4% less than in the previous year. The number of Germans accommodated only amounted to 2% and the number of Poles to 4% of the last year’s number of guests in the Q1. Also numbers of arrivals of other guests from abroad do not reach even a tenth of the last year’s results.
The coronavirus crisis also had an impact on spa accommodation establishments. Spas were open and they are still open; however, they could only provide care paid by health insurance companies and not by self-payers. The results for the whole quarter show a 53% decrease in the number of overnight stays of residents and a 68% decrease in arrivals of guests from the Czech Republic. The average stay in spa lasted for 14 nights.
